Dig Diary Day #5
Dig Diary,
Today was a very fun day out at the Big Dig. We found many interesting artifacts. As the groups moved the dirt shovel full by shovel full, we began to uncover objects that were both obvious and objects that were very peculiar and hard to tell what they were. My group, the Flag Stickers, (Don’t ask why we are called that we just are.) found a necklace that was made of what we thought was marble or some sort of polished stone. On top of the necklace was a stitched doll. We also found a face that was carved into a small piece of wood. The last thing that we found was the strangest artifact of all. It was what appeared to be a skull that was brutally bashed. At first we thought it was a bowl but after a brief examination we found it to be a skull. At the end of our class period, we hit the bottom of our pit and finished the dig. After a small and quick celebration, we took a picture of our class and packed up our tools. We found many interesting artifacts and we will soon draw conclusions to which hominid group’s artifacts we uncovered.
