Dunn Middle School students are getting down and dirty as they recreate an archaeological dig on campus. Join the fun!
Welcome to the Big Dig
Since the beginning of the school year, DMS students have been exploring human origins. Through readings and videos, they learned about our early ancestors: the Australopithecenes, Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis, and Homo Sapiens Sapiens.
In extreme secrecy, each class has recreated artifacts (such as bones, food scraps, and stone tools) similar to those that might have been left behind by one such group of hominids. Thanks to the efforts of Pat Carroll and his construction team, we were able to bury our "artifacts" in 6 pits around campus.
Now each class has located a promising excavation site. Who knows what they'll dig up?
