Our First Day!

Athena Lathos

Period 1

Dig Diary:
Today lacked any significant finds, because the entirety of the period was spent choosing and gridding the site we are to excavate. We choose between two possible sites by the one which we believed held more ancient artifacts by the way that mysterious objects were grouped. Also today, we received some aid from the site mathematician, Mrs. Frost. She gave our team instructions on measuring our site square, which is to be two meters by two meters. We learned how to use a compass to accurately measure the angles and sides of the square. We also separated into digging teams and were told what our jobs would be during the week. My team, named originally “The Dirt” consists of Zena Benenati, Sean Wilczak, and myself. They are many possible jobs to be done during the dig. Each day, we will excavate a twenty centimeter patch of dirt and one person will dig that patch in large sections. One person will thoroughly sift the dirt in trays and another will accurately record all findings. After the introduction of the dig and job division, we were allowed to depart for the day. May tomorrow bring new discoveries!
