The Dig Diary
Dig Diary,
Today was the start of our class archeological dig. We mapped out the digging sight with flags. We put flags by things that we thought was different of unnatural from the rest of the surroundings. We then fount the area that was most cluttered by flags and mapped it out with bright orange string. We aligned one of the sides of the sight with true north using a cool green compass, and then made a perfect square. After some heated debate on which way was north, our class made four 1 meter by 1 meter equal squares in the big square. We tried to be as careful as we could with the area inside of our squares because we didn’t want to disturb the sight too much. Our class left the sight with a lot of progress made. We are ready to start the excavation tomorrow!!
